Today, I’m returning to my blog after a lengthy pause! And get excited, because similarly to a lot of things occurring in the world right now, things are getting a lot more real.
In a parallel situation, many of us have been going through a return to the world after a shocking hiatus. The dust may not have quite settled, but emotionally, it’s as if we’re taking a cautious step out of the safety of our homes, and looking on curiously at the newly formed world. Maybe we’re wondering what our place is amidst the yet ongoing crises our country is facing. Maybe we’re a bit afraid and uncertain about how to move forward, but still the oppressing feeling of stagnation inches us forward.
During this time of exploring a new world and our place within it, let’s acknowledge the opportunity it gives us to step into a new way of being. Many of us were given some extra time to consider how we’ve been living our lives. Some of us have realized we need to make changes. And what a beautiful time to discover this! Our world needs us to change, if we’re to see change in our world.
On my end, I’ve realized I’ve been holding back. I’ve held onto many of my thoughts due to the fear I may be criticized for them. To an extent, I’ve held onto the words I wanted to say, and exchanged them for words you were more likely to accept. But in doing so, I found when I keep a part of myself hidden, I hold back almost entirely.
Honesty and transparency are important to me. I want to be real, and I want to show my true me. I’m not gonna lie, my thoughts can be a little radical at times. However, even if it means being criticized for my esoteric reflections, I’ve decided I’m ready to embrace me for me, and not the ‘me’ society thinks I should be.
Being true to you allows for important and oftentimes life-changing conversations, holding back your essence means covering up your opinions and living complacently. Growth and the necessary change for it, only occurs when you allow your world to make you uncomfortable.
So here’s to a new beginning of my blog. Here’s to me being my true and perfectly imperfect self. Not that my previous blogs weren’t me, but I was trying too hard and too long to be a polished version. And polished versions take time, which means not living in the present, and not accepting who I am. So ready or not, here’s the real me.
What are you allowing that’s holding you back from becoming the greatest version of yourself? What do you need to leave behind to show up as your true you?

P.S. As some of you may have heard in my recent post on Instagram, I have someone joining me for a couple months to help me with my social media in preparation for some exciting new biz developments I’ve been working on. Her name is Rachel, and you’ll soon be seeing some of her posts here on the blog as well!
Author Bio: Hi, I’m Bethany! Over the past 10 years, I’ve been on a winding journey in search of healing. I created Love myHealth as an outlet to share my story and empower others. I’m passionate about all things health, but what intrigues me most, is the healing essence of an empowering mindset. Some of my favorite things in life include AcroYoga, walking under the stars, life-changing conversations with strangers, and food (most notably: gluten-free pizza and nice cream.)
