Do You Struggle to Make Sense of the World?

As you read this mini journal (really just some random thoughts I had), I invite you to consider what types of expectations/ideas you place on the world around you and how they might be affecting the way you perceive life and your resulting emotions.

nn

What if you didn’t have any expectations or preconceived notions? What if you could free the world from what you thought it should be? To let go of the need for everything to make sense? How would your life change? Do you think you’d be happier?

Dear Brave Soul,

nnn

This is one of my personal journal entries, and as such, I’ve not written it with the intention of an audience. I’ve decided to share some of these reflections with you based on two desires:

nn

1) to remember I am not alone — sharing my raw thoughts and being vulnerable may allow me to connect with others who have similar thoughts/feelings/experiences (aka, I’d love to hear from you!)

n

2) to remember I am not my ego — I believe we all have a right to share our opinions. However, for much of my life, even still, it’s been difficult for me to express myself out of fear someone will respond negatively. Being vulnerable and opening up with my potentially esoteric, or even controversial, thoughts is me facing that fear, and I understand it may very well cause my ego pain.

nn

To note, these entries are largely unedited, though if I’ve added/clarified anything, you will see a ‘[…]’.

nnn

Sincerely,

n

my Dying Ego

We try to put the world in a box, but no matter how hard we try, it’ll never fit. And until we allow it to be free and realize it doesn’t need a box–only open arms and a hug–then we will always struggle trying to make sense of the world from a perspective where things will never make sense.

nn

Stemming from the thought about age, and how we try to say people below 18 are kids, and when they are 18, poof, adult!

nn

[We make a box for kids; we make a box for adults; in reality, do these boxes make sense? Probably not. Do they make things easier from a black-and-white sense? Sure. But what’s the point if life isn’t black-and-white?! Why can’t we just act more from our hearts and not need everything to make logical sense?]

nn

And everything else. All expectations and labels we put on the world in order to try to make sense of it all. What if we could just live with open minds and hearts? Maybe that’s where the thing we seek lies. Maybe that’s where we’ll find love.

Author Bio: Hi, I’m Bethany! Over the past 12 years, I’ve been on a winding journey in search of healing. I created Love myHealth as an outlet to share my story and empower others. I’m passionate about all things health, but what intrigues me most, is the healing essence of an empowering mindset. Some of my favorite things in life include acro yoga, walking under the stars, life-changing conversations with strangers, and food (most notably: gluten-free pizza and nice cream.)
