Since animals understand but little English, the relationships we have with them are a clear example of how humans have learned to communicate through the language of energy. Speaking through energy may not work so well on a more physical level, however, practicing our energetic language may help us live more from our inner world. The place where healing, creativity, love, and abundance all lie. It’s no wonder animals have such healing power.
Dear Brave Soul,
This is one of my personal journal entries, and as such, I’ve not written it with the intention of an audience. I’ve decided to share some of these reflections with you based on two desires:
1) to remember I am not alone — sharing my raw thoughts and being vulnerable may allow me to connect with others who have similar thoughts/feelings/experiences (aka, I’d love to hear from you!)
2) to remember I am not my ego — I believe we all have a right to share our opinions. However, for much of my life, even still, it’s been difficult for me to express myself out of fear someone will respond negatively. Being vulnerable and opening up with my potentially esoteric, or even controversial, thoughts is me facing that fear, and I understand it may very well cause my ego pain.
To note, these entries are largely unedited, though if I’ve added/clarified anything, you will see a ‘[…]’.
Sincerely,
my Dying Ego

The strangest thing happened this morning. And I mean, it might all be coincidence, but maybe not. I have to at least be open to the possibility.
I had woken up, not even a half hour ago, and amongst some annoying hiccups that I gave up on waiting to go away, I was settling in for my morning meditation. [A]s is her normal, [my cat,] Gigi settled in right next to me too. As I picked up my phone to start my timer, my eyes ran across my screen and the Nerva app caught my eye. So I decided instead of doing my typical free-style meditation, I would do one of my guided meditations from the app, [….] a hypnosis app for healing IBS/digestive symptoms.
I hit play, and it begins the 1 minute or so intro, before it begins the actual hypnosis recording. A few seconds in, Gigi uncurls herself from beside me, and walks over my legs to approach my phone. This isn’t uncommon for her to do. When my phone is playing a meditation or I have music on, she often seems to have the need to examine my phone.
Then, she starts kneading the bed, right in front of my phone… awww!! She obviously likes this woman’s voice. Then the hypnosis begins, and I close my eyes and begin to listen to the voice guiding me into a relaxed state, but then I feel Gigi has moved and is kneading right next to my thigh… awww!! She loves me too!
Then I sense her walking down a little, but she stops again and starts kneading. Again she walks a little further down and starts kneading. At this point, I open my eyes to look at her. Thinking, hah, she’s so silly! She was almost at my ankle, and then she took a couple steps to position herself in front of my foot, and kneaded there too. She then turned away and kneaded away from my foot, and in doing this, I started to wonder whether she was moving energy out of my body. Then once more she turned to face my foot and kneaded.
But with this, I notice something, my stomach is more relaxed, the part of my stomach that tenses up when I hiccup, (which to note, this whole time I’d been hiccuping.) And for a moment I wondered, did she get rid of my hiccups?! But a second later another hiccup came out. Unfazed, she laid down next to my feet for the rest of our hypnosis/meditation session.
But still, I felt different and less tense, and then… no [more] hiccups came, and I went back, incredulous, to the words guiding me through my healing.
Author Bio: Hi, I’m Bethany! Over the past 10 years, I’ve been on a winding journey in search of healing. I created Love myHealth as an outlet to share my story and empower others. I’m passionate about all things health, but what intrigues me most, is the healing essence of an empowering mindset. Some of my favorite things in life include acro yoga, walking under the stars, life-changing conversations with strangers, and food (most notably: gluten-free pizza and nice cream.)
